World Orienteering Day | International Orienteering Federation

Be part of something bigger

– Color the world!

In May 2020, between May 13 and May 19, any organized activity can be registered as a World Orienteering Day event.

Our vision

The objectives of the International Orienteering Federation regarding the organization of this annual event are as follows:
Increase the visibility and accessibility of orienteering to young people, increase the number of participants in both school and club activities in all the countries of the National Federations, help teachers to implement the orienteering in a fun and educational way and to encourage more new countries to take part in orienteering.

A visionary approach

Each club of all national orienteering federations comes into contact with at least one school. As teachers might need help in implementing orienteering so that the lessons are a fun and exciting experience, IOF is working to provide teaching materials in different languages. The IOF Regional Development and Youth Commission coordinates and links those interested in orienteering from its national federations into an orienteering school network in order to exchange materials and experiences. After the event, students keep their cards to take home and show to friends and family.
