TrailO World Championships: TempO gold for Norway

Norwegian athlete Sondre Ruud Bråten won today’s TempO final in front of strong competition. He was challenged closely by Ondrez Macek, Czech Republic, who finished just 6 seconds from victory.

There was then a big time gap with the joint bronze medalists, the young Czech athlete Pavel Ptacek and the very experienced Italian Alessio Tenani. Another Italian, Marcello Lambertini, was only 4 seconds from a medal, in fifth place.

There was the Qualification in the morning with 2 heats, 5 TempO stations to tackle. The top 18 from each heat go on to the afternoon final, and one notable athlete normally known for his speed and accuracy in TempO – Antti Rusanen, Finland – fell short by a second. The final consisted of 9 stations, with the competitors starting in the reverse order of their arrival in qualifying. The venue for another hot day was the Japanese Gardens and surrounding land near Jelenia Góra, Poland, partly used for the relay the day before.

The Championships continue with 2 days of PreO, with the combined results deciding the medalists.
