Orientation competition between soldiers, Ministry of Defense

In accordance with the training plan of the ground forces for the 2022 training year, an orienteering competition was organized between the servicemen, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry told AZERTAC.

First, the memory of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, was honored with the observance of a minute’s silence.

The soldiers received instructions before the start of the competition. It was noted that the main objectives of the competition are to increase the endurance of servicemen and improve their skills in the use of compasses and maps.

38 soldiers from 7 teams participated in the competition. Participants walked the designated distance and completed the target determination tasks indicated on the map. According to the terms of the competition, military men identified 10 checkpoints at a distance of 4 km, and military women identified 8 checkpoints at a distance of 3 km.

Members of the Board of Referees consisting of representatives of the Land Forces and the Azerbaijani Orienteering Federation determined the winners of the competition.

The winners received honorary certificates, cups and medals.
