International support helped Ukrainian participation in 2022

The Ukrainian national orienteering team was able to participate in all international championships and World Cup competitions in 2022, despite the war in the country.

While it was possible, it’s not easy to focus on performing at the highest level, when your thoughts are with family and friends back home.

– It’s difficult. It’s sad to say, but you get used to the war and everything that’s going on in the country. It’s demanding, said Ukrainian national runner Ruslan Glibov during the World Cup final in Switzerland in an interview broadcast on Norwegian television channel NRK.

The Ukrainian participation built on the efforts of national federations and various organizers to help support Ukrainian Orienteering, and the money raised through the IOF donation site made a difference.

It is still possible to support the Ukrainian orienteering race via the donation site. Visit the site.

The NRK broadcast also shows images of the Ukrainian Orienteering Championships, which took place recently in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine.

It brings joy to IOF to see the smiles during an orienteering in Ukraine, despite the dire situation in the country.
